One of the new up-and-comers to the wedding planning world is the awesome website, Wedding Hopping! They’re a great resource for couples planning their wedding in the Twin Cities area chalk full of vendor interviews, great photos and tons of inspiration, so I was honored when owner, Jennae, asked if she could feature my work! Some of you may remember Jennae from her amazing wedding last summer that took place in St. Paul and ended at the Gopher Stadium – still one of my favorites to date! There really is nothing like a small town wedding, especially one as swanky and fun as Lora and Justin’s. A graphic designer and photographer by trade, Lora added glamor, unexpected details and gorgeous pops of color throughout the ceremony and reception that took the wedding that extra step of ah-mazing and made my job so easy! Someone asked if photographing for a photographer was nerve wracking; I’d be lying if I said photographing anyone in the industry isn’t a bit scary, but really, I think it made the day all the more fun and completely inspiring – plus, the bride had fabulous location ideas for wedding party photos! My favorite part of photographing weddings outside my home base of the Twin Cities is the fabulous opportunity to find and try new locations to shoot. Between the plethora of cool buildings and amazing light in both Pigeon Falls and Eau Claire, I was in heaven!
Lora and Justin were married in a beautiful stone church in Pigeon Falls, WI, just a stones throw to the south of Eau Claire on picturesque Highway 53. If you’ve never been to the west central WI area, I recommend you bookmark this webpage, get into your car, and start driving because it’s absolutely, unequivocally, amazing countryside. There are rolling fields and barns on EVERY CORNER and halfway in between – and anyone who knows me well, knows I have a slight obsession of barns and tall grass. I found myself seriously considering, more than once, whether I could persuade any of my portrait clients to drive that far for a session. It’s that gorgeous – seriously. But I digress.
The couple chose to wait until the ceremony to see each other – a choice not often made these days – but with excellent planning of the day, we had plenty of time for portraits, family and wedding party photos in multiple locations, and even stopped at a local watering hole for good measure before continuing on to Eau Claire for a night of dinner and dancing.
During all the hustle and bustle of the day, the bride and groom couldn’t take their eyes off each other. It’s always the little things – a sideways glance, brush of the hand or peck when no one’s looking – that make it so blatant a couple is utterly in love. Lora and Justin couldn’t fool the world if they tried – they’re meant for each other and are absolutely, undeniably smitten.
Gives me the warm fuzzies just thinking about it. :)
