I was so happy when Kara asked me to come to their house for photos – photographing on location is my most favorite way to shoot since I’m able to capture a client in a more natural, comfortable and personal setting.  Most clients have a hard time thinking their home could lend itself to amazing photos, but they’ve always been pleasantly surprised by the outcome!  It’s almost always possible to find great lighting, and in Odella’s case, amazing props as well!  I contributed a few blankets and my super amazing, fantastic mini top hat, but the rest was all Kara and Zach.  Recognize the frame?!?   Zach’s grandmother’s mirror frame has been the most requested item from my clients since K+Z’s engagement session a few years back. I tried to take it off the wall and out the door with me, but no luck, sorry friends!!  It did re-inspire me to find one of my own, so keep your eyes peeled. :)

When I found out, I pretty much begged them to let me shoot their maternity photos… After our engagement session a few years ago, I just couldn’t wait to get them back in front of my camera!  Really – anyone that brings a miniature Knight in Shining Armor to their engagement session is going to melt my heart pretty dang quickly. :)
Kara and Zach are the most amazing couple – so beautiful and kind and genuinely, completely in love with each other.   If baby gets even a smidgen of the love they show, she’ll be the most loved baby girl on the planet.  Such a lucky girl!

Kara and Zach tied the knot yesterday in the beautiful town of Savannah, GA…  Hooray K&Z!!  I wish I could have been there as I’m sure it was absolutely fabulous!!  Kara and Zach won their wedding photography through a contest given by the amazingly talented Katee Grace – how awesome is that!?!?  Check out Katee’s website in the coming weeks for a peek at the festivities (which, knowing Kara, are bound to be full of uber fantastic DIY and vintage touches!)

]]> http://amberengferphotography.com/2010/06/kara-and-zach-got-married/feed/ 0 Kara and Zach: Engaged http://amberengferphotography.com/2009/05/kara-and-zach-engaged/ http://amberengferphotography.com/2009/05/kara-and-zach-engaged/#comments Fri, 29 May 2009 08:18:46 +0000 amber http://amberengferphotography.com/?p=325 When Kara asked me to do an engagement session for her and her brand spankin’ new fiance’, Zach, I just new it would be full of pure awesome-ness!  Kara is a product designer by day and an artist and jewelry designer by night (I own a pair of her earrings and am pretty sure they’re my favorites ever… Check out her etsy site here and blog here).   Zach, on the other hand, is just about finished with school to become a hair God (judging by Kara and Zach’s hair, he’s well on his way!)  When we first discussed the session, Kara mentioned she had a few props she wanted to work in, namely a pink velvet chair and tin knight (as in the shining armor kind).  Did I mention the awesome-ness yet?  Seriously, this girl is after my own heart!   We met at Theodore Wirth Park in Minneapolis and Kara and Zach didn’t disappoint, arriving with a car stuffed full of props and looking even more lovely than usual (must have been the hair).  We spent the evening exploring forests, pathways and quaking bogs with props and camera in tow – awesome.  :)  Thanks K+Z for such a fun shoot, let me know when you want to go again!!
