I was so happy when Kara asked me to come to their house for photos – photographing on location is my most favorite way to shoot since I’m able to capture a client in a more natural, comfortable and personal setting.  Most clients have a hard time thinking their home could lend itself to amazing photos, but they’ve always been pleasantly surprised by the outcome!  It’s almost always possible to find great lighting, and in Odella’s case, amazing props as well!  I contributed a few blankets and my super amazing, fantastic mini top hat, but the rest was all Kara and Zach.  Recognize the frame?!?   Zach’s grandmother’s mirror frame has been the most requested item from my clients since K+Z’s engagement session a few years back. I tried to take it off the wall and out the door with me, but no luck, sorry friends!!  It did re-inspire me to find one of my own, so keep your eyes peeled. :)

Sarah and Eric are getting married later this year at the most perfect rustic barn location in small town Minnesota.  I’ve heard rumors of the festivities, and know first hand that their wedding is going to be nothing short of amazing!  The Groom plays the banjo!   ‘Nuf said.
There’s nothing like the Minneapolis riverfront at sunset on a warm, late summer night.  It can be rustic, urban, country, and industrial… all just depending on which way you turn.  The St. Anthony Main and Stone Arch Bridge area are one of my favorites in the city to shoot – and Sarah and Eric rocked it!

When I found out, I pretty much begged them to let me shoot their maternity photos… After our engagement session a few years ago, I just couldn’t wait to get them back in front of my camera!  Really – anyone that brings a miniature Knight in Shining Armor to their engagement session is going to melt my heart pretty dang quickly. :)
Kara and Zach are the most amazing couple – so beautiful and kind and genuinely, completely in love with each other.   If baby gets even a smidgen of the love they show, she’ll be the most loved baby girl on the planet.  Such a lucky girl!

Of course, no family session is complete without the household pet, and “C” didn’t disappoint.  He’s definitely the protector of his “sisters”, as he watched their every move our entire time at the studio.  Now that’s love!

(which we forgot to drink)  Fortunately for Dan and Kathy (and my poor, ungloved hands – sorry mom!) our second location, albeit just as bright, was much warmer. :)

She’s so tiny and precious (and ridiculously light, in comparison to my little man “muscles” – more on that later) and was soooo good during our session at the studio.  Even during the millisecond meltdown-from-being-too-chilly-in-her-skivvys, Aubrey managed to remain adorable!! Tiny baby cries = cute, in case you didn’t know.

I could have shot all day if Aubrey would’ve let me, especially with all the cute flower hair pieces we had to choose from thanks to Aubrey’s mom.  I can’t wait to see this little one grow up!

(Andy is a complete ham and kept Karen, the wedding party (and the photographers) laughing all day!)

Their wedding date was just a few short weeks before my little bambino was due, so I enlisted reinforcements to help me out with the day and take over if need be (essential in these types of situations!)  Many thanks to Casey and Kayd for being my back up – you were awesome to work with and I couldn’t have done it without you! (for real, I had to sit down like 80 times throughout the night!)

Jennae and Elliot are one of the most genuinely kind and happy couples I’ve ever met.  Watching them the day of their wedding, I was in awe of the love they have for each other, they are truly soul mates, they just fit… like a pair of pink shoes.

We met at Jennae and Elliot’s ridiculously cute home for a few detail shots and a quick first look, then headed to the St. Paul capital grounds for formal shots before the ceremony.  Let me tell you, I fell 100% in love with Jennae’s dress, it was gorgeous!  The wedding party offset her dress perfectly, the maids in short blush pink mismatched styles and the men in chocolate brown tuxes.  The overall look was absolutely stunning.

The ceremony took place at Unity Unitarian Church in St. Paul where the original dark wood beams and modern waved wood backdrop wall continued the romantic theme perfectly.

After a quick jaunt through downtown St. Paul, we continued on to the new Gopher Stadium for the reception – what an amazing venue!  One of the perks to having a party at TCF Bank Stadium is full access to the field!   Jennae and Elliot’s wedding party took full advantage and played an impromptu bridesmaids against groomsmen football while the guests watched from the stands above.
Full fledged sprints in formal wedding garb… best wedding party EVER!

Olivia, Connor and their parents drove all the way from Menomonie, WI a few weeks back for a shoot at the studio I rent; isn’t that awesome!?  Olivia and Connor’s mom is friends with Adia’s mom, so booked some time after seeing Adia’s recent modeling post!   Even though Connor wasn’t completely up for photos that day, (partly my fault since I think I allowed for just a little too much fun before getting down to the photo nitty gritty) we still managed to get some fabulous shots in of brother,  sister and the whole fam… and I even snuck a few in of Mom and Dad!  :)
