Sneak Peek Extravaganza!!!

I WILL be posting a full spread from Katy and Adam’s amazing wedding in the next few days, but I’ve been crazy busy with editing all the great sessions and weddings I’ve done in the last month that I just haven’t had time to blog! Ahhhhhhhh well, in the long run, editing is more important… even if blogging is more fun. :)

Cousins: Calvin, Elias, Sophia and Oden

A few weeks back I met with Sarah and Jason and Jason’s sister, Christine, to photograph their little ones as Sarah and Christine wanted some pics of the cousins for a Mothers Day present. You may remember Sarah and Jason’s kids from our last session, taken when little Elias was just a wee babe! After quite a bit of bribing with jelly beans and playground promises, and a lot of patience from the wee ones, we ended up with some fabulous shots! Getting four children engaged at the same time is a challenge, but no joke, these are four fantastic kids!!!

I couldn’t help myself on this next one… Elias, Calvin and Sophia just look so…. concerned about poor Oden! Love it!

Bryn and Joel were married last weekend in a private ceremony and intimate reception at the über posh W Hotel in Minneapolis, MN. Here’s a quicky from our pre-ceremony shoot – I’m working hard to post the rest in the next few days!!!

Baby Elias: 2 months

A few weeks ago, I ventured over to St. Paul for a session with Baby Elias and family in their super cute home on the most perfect little street! I just love St. Paul, always have…. maybe because I grew up East of the river, or maybe because my high school besties’ super cool first college apartment was just off Grand Ave, or maybe just because it’s a magical little city with adorable neighborhoods and the best dessert place EVER! (Cafe Latte, of course – have you tried their lemon creme torte? TO DIE FOR, I’m telling you – go NOW – you won’t be sorry!!)

I digress. Not only did I have a great time shooting little Elias, but I also got to play trains with big brother, Calvin. Calvin LOVES trains. And cars, and helicopters, planes…. We had a blast! My favorite part about this ‘job’ is getting to bond with my clients. Taking a time out to play in the sand or check out some toys or talk about the Jonas Brothers is a sure way to build some trust and ultimately capture better photos.
(plus, I get to have FUN in the process.) :)

Baby Elias has the thickest mop of spiked out hair I’ve ever seen on a baby, and I LOVE IT!!! Seriously, I could’ve played with his hair all day; every time Elias’ mom smoothed it down, I was right behind her spiking it back up. (I’m mean like that, but really, it made for much better photos…I swear.)

Baby Austin: 4 months

Oh that Austin – he’s going to be a lady killer, that’s for sure! Within minutes of arriving at his house, Austin gave me a huge happy baby smile and I just knew I was in for it… How could you resist that face??! And, fortunately, even after Austin got sick of the big black box on my face, mom and dad had a few pretty cool tricks up their sleeves to keep him smiling!! We had an unseasonably warm Autumn day for Austin’s session, which worked out perfectly as we were able to step outside for a few family and tummy time shots. Mind you, Austin’s not really a tummy time kind of guy…. he’s more of a lounger, but throw a few colorful fallen leaves in front of him and wham – happy as a clam! I just love when things work out that way… especially when the photos turn out to be so dang cute!

okay… I know this one isn’t totally in focus, but I just loved his expression sooo much, I HAD to post it!

OOoooooh, this may just be one of my favorite photos ever! This is little Austin – did you see his adorable hoodie? His great grammy made it for him and I’m seriously considering asking she make one for me as well…. :) There’s just something about wee one’s in hats and hoods… gets me every time!!

Taryn and Leyla’s Family: Stillwater, MN

See? Soooo stinkin’ cute! I could have spent the entire day with these guys… If it wasn’t for semi-cold November weather and a lingering football game, I probably would have ‘cuz they were so much fun! Taryn and I had some good conversation about her favorite music (toss up between Miley and Taylor), which Jonas Brother is the cutest (she wouldn’t actually admit to one, but I have my suspicions), and her favorite subject in school (math!). I also learned a lot about Mickey Mouse and Curious George, Leyla’s current favorite friends who accompanied us on our ‘walk by the river” (much easier than explaining a photo shoot to a two yr old). :)
And, on top of all that, Taryn and Leyla’s parents just celebrated their 10yr anniversary which is so completely, fantastically awesome!! We made sure to incorporate a few shots of just mom and dad throughout the session to commemorate the occasion.

Taryn, Leyla, and their parents came to visit me this past Sunday in Stillwater, MN. An outdoor photo shoot in November in the midwest, you say? Who knew!? Fortunately for us, it was a beautiful day! Then again, downpouring rain couldn’t have ruined a session with these two and their uber-cuteness… seriously – just wait!

Baby Nora: 2 Months

Here she is! Perfect, sweet, adorable baby Nora. I love her eyes – innocent, clear and full of wonder, you can’t help but know this little one is destined for greatness. Nora’s family asked me over to take some photos from the comfort of their Minneapolis home (which I love, by the way, it’s so much more intimate than a studio session could ever be). We were hoping for a few outdoor shots as well as indoor, but the weather didn’t cooperate as soggy grass and super bright sun do not make for a happy baby. No matter though – Nora’s parents have super fabulous taste, so I had more than enough to work with within their living room alone! (I truly may try to figure out a way to get my hands on their teal chair you see below, I was in heaven the moment I saw it!! do you think they’d mind if I just stopped by one day and snuck it out the window?!?) :)

Sweet baby Nora’s mommy is a ballerina – would you have guessed? I love this photo, partly because I fell in love with the chair Nora’s sitting in and love the contrast in color against her ridiculously cute little outfit, but mostly because of the bubbles!!!! Baby bubbles are the cuteness that come just before the drool….. Though I’m not much a fan for the drool bombs, I do love the bubbles. :)

Emily: Senior 2010

I had such a great time trekking around Stillwater, MN with Emily for her high school senior session! Every time I have a session there, I love exploring to find fun new nooks to use as backdrops, and this time was no different. Fortunately, Emily and her mom were ready and willing to follow my lead, and I’m pretty sure we spent as much time laughing as we did taking pictures! Thanks Emily for some great conversation; I hope you have a fantastic senior year!!

Here’s a quicky post of Emily, a high school senior that came to visit me all the way from Rochester, MN for photos – crazy awesome, right!?!? I know!

In other news, I’ll be out of the office for a few weeks in October with very limited access to email. If you’re interested in booking a fall/holiday session – I’ll be available after October 20th!!!

Robbie: Senior 2010

Okay, so I haven’t figured out the whole BFF thing, but I did finish editing Robbie’s photos!! Robbie, his mom, dad and dogs met me at Minneahaha Falls Park in Minneapolis a few weeks ago. Though the morning was beautiful and sunny, our session was scheduled in the evening where things got a little hairy with a drop in temperature and threats of rain….. fortunately the weather held out and we were still able to score some great shots!! Robbie was great to work with, but said I needed to work on an act to keep people laughing through their sessions…. apparently I’m not as funny to high school boys as I once was… :) All in all, I’m pretty sure Robbie still had fun, even with my lame, old lady jokes.

Robbie is a senior at Academy of Holy Angels, another hockey and soccer extraordinaire, and my cousin, Ryan’s, BFF. (do boys have BFF’s? Maybe they’re just buddies, pals, friends? I’ll ask and let you know.)

We did a high school senior shoot a few weeks ago and guess what?!?! ROBBY BROUGHT HIS DOGS!!!! I was sooooo excited to capture some photos of dogs other than my own – what a fun challenge! I have a gagle of photos of my own pets, but it’s always interesting trying to get someone else’s dog to pay attention to my weird ‘pay attention to me’ noises…. I think they sat very pretty for their session, don’t you?? Oh, and Robbie did a fantastic job too – more on that later this week. :)

Jessica and David: Married

Well… this post is LONG over due!! Jess and Dave got married on August 22nd in the beautiful town of Stillwater, MN and it was fabulous!!! The entire wedding party was so much fun and absolutely willing to do whatever I said (bonus!), despite the bright sunshine and a little sunburn as a result. Jess and Dave chose to see each other before the ceremony, which I love as it allows more time for photos before and after the ceremony as well as a little bride/groom alone time before the craziness begins. Thanks to their smart planning, we were able to venture out to some super fun places for photos, including an old schoolhouse and various awesome locations downtown Stillwater.

The best part? After the ceremony, Jess and Dave hopped in a vintage Charger as their getaway car! Man that car was cool! I love old cars, as you’ll come to find out if you keep tabs on my blog, and my assistant is a huge Dodge fan, so we were uber jealous of their sweet ride. We actually plotted to nab it at the reception in Bayport, but the owner kept a close eye the whole night….rightfully so. :)

Dave and Jess, thank you for allowing us to photograph your wedding day; you are fantastic people and truly meant for each other. :)
I trust your first year will be phenomenal and only a sneak peak of many years to come! Congratulations!

Yesterday I had the pleasure of photographing Dave and Jessica’s wedding, and let me tell you, it was a crazy good time! It was a perfect day; the weather was amazing and the entire wedding party was fantastic, despite the long day of posing and smiling. :) I can’t WAIT to edit the rest of their photos, but until then, here’s a few to tide you over….

Ally: Senior 2010

I was right – it’s taken me FOREVER to narrow down the photos from Ally’s senior session for this post! This girl is ridiculously photogenic. :) Ally is going to be a high school senior at Perpich Center for Arts Education (The Arts High School) … isn’t that COOL?!?!? Ally is an amazing singer, so she’ll be studying Music along with general curriculum… I’m seriously sooooo, so jealous.

I met Ally and her parents at her dad’s amazing home in Lake Elmo, which was perfect for the warm light from such a beautiful evening. We took advantage of their landscaping, patio furniture, lake… and Ally was even nice enough to try out a few not-so-senior-picture-y poses on the street… which, I may add, could be some of my absolute favorites ever. :)
